A common question we are often asked is how much does it cost to run a home sunbed. To calculate how much electricity each type of our sunbeds uses we have to calculate how much power each sunbed will use in kilowatts per hour. A kilowatt (kWh) is when 1000 watts of energy are used for one hour. The UK average price per kWh for electricity is 14 pence or 14 pence per kilowatt of power per hour.
A few years ago sunbeds did consume quite a lot of energy or electricity but thanks to new technology that is no longer the case. The latest type of sunbeds use specialist electronic ballasts or power supplies which are very energy efficient. In addition, sunbed technology has advanced a great deal in the last few years and it is no longer necessary to go on a sunbed for 30 minutes or more. The maximum time required for a single tanning session is now 12 minutes. Here is a list of the different types of Coco sunbeds for hire and the running costs per 12 minute tanning session.
Canopy 9 tube sunbed (900 watts). Cost per session = 12 pence
Canopy 10 tube sunshower (1600 watts). Cost per session = 22 pence
Double 18 tube sunbed (1520 watts). Cost per session = 21 pence
Double 19 tube sunshower (2320 watts). Cost per session = 32 pence
Vertical 24 tube sunbed (2400 watts). Cost per session = 33 pence
Vertical 24 tube sunshower (3840 watts). Cost per session = 53 pence
As you can see from the above it is not as expensive as people think to run a sunbed hire at home. For example, if one person was using a 9 tube canopy sunbed each day (one session per day is the maximum permitted) for one week or seven days the total running cost in electricity would be 84 pence. The most one of our sunbeds would cost to run is the 24 tube sunshower sunbed hire which would be £3.71 per week. This disproves any myths that a sunbed is going to cost you a fortune to run!
Coco sunbed only use the latest 0.3 tanning technology sunbeds which deliver the same effect as the mid-day Mediterranean summer sun but without the risk of burning. This means your sunbed tan will be deeper and longer-lasting.
